Starting September 1, 2025, the Poznan University of Technology will establish the Academic Guard—a special unit responsible for ensuring the safety of the entire university community and protecting its infrastructure.
Why was the Academic Guard created?
It is a response to growing challenges and a changing environment. The aim is to make the PUT campus a safe and welcoming place for studying, working, and living.
What will the guards do?
respond to threats and problematic situations,
cooperate with public services in case of incidents,
support the organisation of academic events,
patrol the campus area around the clock.
To effectively ensure safety, the Academic Guard has been equipped with:
three security gates for detecting dangerous items (at CW),
four handheld metal detectors,
scooters for patrolling the campus,
standardized uniforms.
Daily, the guards are also supported by the University Monitoring Centre, which operates approximately 700 cameras to oversee campus security.
The formation consists of 40 staff members under the command of a Chief Commander.
The establishment of the Academic Guard marks an important step toward a modern and comprehensive security system. With this initiative, Poznan University of Technology joins the ranks of the first universities in Poland to implement such a professional campus safety model.
