AI Factory for a Consortium Including Poznan University of Technology!

As part of the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) initiative, Poland is joining an elite group of countries developing AI Factories—data processing centers designed to support the growth of artificial intelligence across Europe.

The Polish AI Factory, named PIAST, will be located at the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC) and will be developed in cooperation with Poznan University of Technology, Adam Mickiewicz University, and Nicolaus Copernicus University.

PIAST is one of six new AI centres in Europe whose goal is to create advanced infrastructure to foster AI development. With cutting-edge HPC systems and cross-sector collaboration, PIAST will drive innovation and the integration of AI technologies in Poland and across Europe.

The PIAST AI Factory will focus on several key areas:

  • Health and life sciences – AI in medical diagnostics and bioinformatics
  • IT and cybersecurity – including quantum technologies
  • Space and robotics – developing AI algorithms for space exploration and automation
  • Sustainable development – AI in energy, agriculture, and climate change mitigation
  • Public sector – optimizing administrative services using artificial intelligence

Poznan University of Technology will actively participate in AI research, supporting the development of AI models and their implementation in industry and the public sector. With its expertise in engineering, computer science, and automation, the university will make a significant contribution to building an innovative AI ecosystem in Poland.

In addition, PUT, in collaboration with PSNC, will provide access to supercomputers and advanced computational technologies, enabling rapid development and testing of new AI solutions.

The PIAST AI Factory project is part of a broader initiative that will establish a network of 13 AI Factories across Europe, forming the backbone of the European strategy for AI development. Thanks to PIAST, Poland will become a key hub for AI research, supporting Europe's goals of technological sovereignty and innovation.
