The next edition of the Airframe Structural Design course is now behind us.
The program is organized in cooperation with the Apollo Spirit company and the Interfaculty Educational and Scientific Centre for Dual Education at the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute".
Last year, four students completed a two-month internship in Texas, where they worked on redesigning a Boeing aircraft from a passenger version to a cargo version.
This year, 55 students from four faculties registered for the course, and 27 participants from the Poznan University of Technology participated in the entrance exam, all of whom completed theoretical training. The course is gaining increasing interest and attracts not only Polish students but also international students. After the theoretical part, interviews were conducted with the 12 best candidates, and 10 top students were selected to proceed to advanced practical training at the partner's headquarters in Warsaw.
The course program was divided into two main parts:
Theoretical Training:
Students explored various key topics, including:
- Principles of airframe design
- Certification processes
- Load development and testing techniques.
Practical Training:
Students participated in practical training, which included:
- Overview of GK PT and Apollo Spirit services
- Insight into P2F (Passenger to Freighter) aircraft conversion design
- CAD modeling sessions in CATIA V5
- Daily workshops on 3D modeling
Additionally, the students had the opportunity to attend a lecture dedicated to the best practices for colleague relationships within the organization and received assistance in refining their CVs, ensuring they would be well-prepared for future job applications. Special recognition goes to Ms. Martyna Skrzypczak, a student from the Faculty of Civil and Transport Engineering , who demonstrated remarkable dedication during the training.
We believe that the skills and knowledge gained during this course provide a solid foundation for all the students and will aid them in their future professional careers. We continue this fruitful collaboration with Apollo Spirit.
