Celebration of the Kakolewo Campus of Poznan University of Technology

On Monday, June 30, 2025, the Kakolewo Campus Celebration of Poznan University of Technology took place at the Kakolewo Airfield. The event brought together numerous guests representing government and local administration, the university, partner institutions, and the local community. The ceremony began with a welcome address by Prof. Teofil Jesionowski, Rector of Poznan University of Technology, who highlighted three key elements of the event:

  • the ceremonial signing of the foundation act and the laying of the cornerstone for the new Teaching and Training Centre,
  • the official handover of the construction site for the Maintenance Hangar project,
  • the presentation of completed projects supported by the Marshal’s Office of the Wielkopolska Region.

Laying of the cornerstone
The central part of the celebration was the official signing of the foundation act, followed by its blessing and the symbolic laying of the cornerstone for the Teaching and Training Centre. The planned building is a three-story facility with a usable floor area of 1,717 m², to be built under the design and build formula by JAKON Sp. z o.o. The facility will include lecture halls, a café, and 26 guest rooms, including rooms adapted for people with disabilities. The investment is scheduled for completion in December 2026.

Speakers included Rector Prof. Teofil Jesionowski, Minister of Science and Higher Education Prof. Maria Mrówczyńska, Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region Marek Woźniak, and President of the Management Board of JAKON Sp. z o.o. Jan Konieczny. The foundation act was read by Łukasz Kalupa, PhD, Chancellor of PUT. After being blessed by Archbishop Emeritus Rev. Stanisław Gądecki, the act was symbolically placed in the cornerstone.

Official handover of the construction site for the “Maintenance Hangar”
The next stage of the program was the ceremonial handover of the construction site for the Maintenance Hangar, a 500 m² facility designed to accommodate three aircraft used in maintenance training for future aviation engineers. The contractor for the investment is REMAT Sp. z o.o., with completion planned for the first quarter of 2026. After speeches by invited guests, including a representative of the contractor, a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony took place.

Presentation of completed projects
Later in the event, guests had the opportunity to view the results of projects completed at the Kakolewo Campus with the support of the Marshal’s Office of the Wielkopolska Region. Tours were organised in guided groups, and the presented projects were marked with colours for easier orientation.

The celebration also included a press briefing attended by the Rector of PUT, the Chancellor, the Minister of Science, and the Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region. The highlight of the day was an aerial acrobatics show performed by the Żelazny aerobatic team.

The Kakolewo Campus Celebration was not only an opportunity to showcase investment progress and the university’s cooperation with regional and industrial partners but also a testament to the dynamic development of Poznan University of Technology’s infrastructure in training future engineering professionals.
