On 31 March, the Kakolewo Campus of Poznan University of Technology welcomed a delegation of representatives from the public administration and the space sector.

The delegation included Marek Woźniak, Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region, accompanied by representatives of the Department of Economy of the Marshal Office of the Wielkopolska Region, headed by Director Beata Łozińska. The delegation also included Dr Marta Ewa Wachowicz, President of the Polish Space Agency (POLSA), together with Monika Banaszek-Cymerman, Director of the Department of Research and Innovation, and Ida Matysek, a representative of the Polish delegation to the European Space Agency under the Access Programme.

Representing Poznan University of Technology were Rector Prof. Teofil Jesionowski, Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Wojciech Sumelka, Chancellor Dr Łukasz Kalupa, Director of the Kakolewo Campus Dr Eng. Julia Gościańska-Łowińska, and the teams responsible for the development and maintenance of the University's research infrastructure.

During the visit, the participants discussed Poland's key priorities within the European Space Agency (ESA), with particular emphasis on the role of Poznan University of Technology in this process. The University presented its activities carried out under ESA initiatives, including those dedicated to students and doctoral candidates, such as ESA Spaceship Poland, as well as initiatives supporting the Polish space sector through the ESA Phi-Lab Net network.

The discussions also highlighted the University's expertise in satellite communications and its developing cooperation with leading Ukrainian research institutions. Another important topic was the University's efforts to become part of the European Space Surveillance and Tracking (SST) system.

The potential of the Kakolewo Campus was presented in the context of the further development of its research infrastructure and Poznan’s growing role as a hub for the space sector, particularly in view of hosting the International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2027).

The meeting marked an important step towards strengthening cooperation between academia, public administration, and space sector institutions, reaffirming the University's growing role in building both the national and the European innovation ecosystem.
