On April 9th of this year, Prof. Leszek F. Demkowicz, who has been affiliated with the University of Texas at Austin, USA, for over 30 years, and is a specialist in computational methods in science and engineering (including numerical analysis, adaptive finite element methods, computational acoustics and electromagnetism, vibrations of elastic and viscoelastic systems, and computational fluid mechanics), joined the distinguished group of individuals who have been awarded the prestigious title of Doctor Honoris Causa by Poznan University of Technology.
This is the 46th honorary doctorate conferred by the University in its more than 100-year history.
The promoter of the honorary doctorate was Prof. Mieczysław Kuczma, while the reviewers were:

A laudation in honour of Dr. h.c. Professor Leszek Demkowicz was also delivered by Prof. Karen Willcox, Director of the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences and Associate Vice President for Research at the University of Texas at Austin.
“Just as mathematics is a universal science that connects and integrates many aspects of reality, so too do the scientists who represent it embody this noble quality. They are interdisciplinary researchers capable of bridging scientific interests across often vastly different disciplines. As a modern technical university, we strive to honour exactly such individuals – versatile, bold, and creative scientists.”
said Prof. Teofil Jesionowski, Rector of Poznan University of Technology.
