First Erasmus+ International Staff Week at Poznan University of Technology

From May 26–30, 2025, the first edition of Erasmus+ International Staff Week took place at Poznan University of Technology. The event brought together 15 staff members from partner universities across nine countries: the Czech Republic, Finland, Greece, Lithuania, Germany, Portugal, Slovakia, the United States, and Hungary.

The event was prepared and coordinated by the International Relations Office, which developed a rich and diverse program encompassing both academic content and cultural and integration activities. The main objectives of the event were to exchange experiences related to the internationalization of higher education, build professional relationships, and showcase the potential of Poznan University of Technology as an active partner in international academic cooperation.

Each day of the week followed a unique theme. On Monday, participants took part in integration activities and a Polish language course for beginners, conducted by the Centre of Languages and Communication. In the evening, they enjoyed a guided tour of Poznan, which concluded with a visit to the Potato Museum (Muzeum Pyry).

Tuesday was dedicated to presenting the university’s activities. Guests were introduced to the structure and functions of the International Relations Office and learned about projects run under the EUNICE European University initiative. The day ended with a campus tour.

Wednesday focused on the theme of “Internationalization at Home.” Participants attended sessions dedicated to the NAWA Welcome to Poland project and other initiatives supporting the integration of international students at PUT. A key highlight was the presentation of digital tools used in the internationalization process, prepared by Mr. Jarosław Derda from the Operations and Maintenance Department.

Thursday celebrated both Polish culture and the cultures of the participating countries. Discussions included national stereotypes and a fascinating intercultural communication workshop, led by Ms. Małgorzata Bączyńska, Director of the Centre of Languages and Communication. The day concluded with a festive farewell dinner, providing an opportunity for reflection and informal conversations.

On the final day, individual job shadowing sessions took place. Participants had the chance to observe the daily work of various university units, including areas related to student and staff mobility and inter-institutional cooperation.

The event was very well received, and participants’ feedback indicates that it was not only a valuable professional experience but also a source of inspiration for future cooperation.

The International Relations Office would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the Centre of Languages and Communication, the Operations and Maintenance Department, and all staff members and university units involved in organisation and support of this event.
