The ceremonial opening of the first Artificial Intelligence Factory in Poland – PIAST-AI – took place today at the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Centre (PCSS). The event was attended by representatives from the worlds of science and technology, including delegates from Poznan University of Technology – one of the institutions co-creating this innovative consortium. On the same day, the PIAST-Q quantum computer was also inaugurated, marking another milestone in the development of research infrastructure in Poland.
The PIAST-AI Factory, located at PCSS, was established through the collaboration of four partners: Poznan University of Technology, Adam Mickiewicz University, Nicolaus Copernicus University, and the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Centre. The consortium aims to develop cutting-edge technologies based on artificial intelligence and implement them in industry, medicine, education, and the public sector.
Poznan University of Technology contributes expertise in engineering, computer science, and automation to the project, actively participating in the creation and testing of new AI models. The factory will also serve as a space for educating future engineers – students of PUT – who will gain unique competencies in modern technologies by working on real research and development projects.
PIAST-AI is one of six AI centres currently being established in Europe as part of an international strategy to support digital transformation. Thanks to modern HPC (High Performance Computing) systems and broad academic-industrial cooperation, PIAST has the potential to become a key hub for AI development in Poland and Central Europe.
