The Poznan University of Technology Choir Volantes Soni achieved spectacular success, winning the Grand Prix of the 12th International Rzeszow Festival of Christmas Carols and Pastorals, which took place on January 25, 2025, in Rzeszow. The jury, consisting of prof. Anna Marek-Kamińska, Prof. Włodzimierz Siedlik and Prof. Elżbieta Krzemińska awarded the choir 99 out of a possible 100 points, which ensured the highest distinction of the festival.
Additionally, the group received a Special Award for the best performance of the festival's theme song - the carol "Lulajże Jezuniu" arranged by Józef Świder.
The festival was held in two stages - the competition auditions took place in the concert hall of the Institute of Music of the University of Rzeszow, while the official announcement of the results took place in the filled-to-the-brim Basilica of the Bernardine Fathers. Both places provided a unique setting for the event, which attracted a large audience – from lovers of choral music to random guests.
The Poznan University of Technology Choir, known as Volantes Soni, viewed their participation in the festival as a significant occasion. After a prolonged hiatus from competitive performances, the group chose to journey over 600 kilometers from Poznan to Rzeszow. This considerable travel did not deter the choir members, who demonstrated through their determination and talent that hard work can lead to spectacular results.
The International Rzeszow Festival of Christmas Carols and Pastorals is one of the most significant musical events of its kind in Poland, featuring choirs from various regions of the country and abroad. Winning the Grand Prix and the Special Prize by the Poznan University of Technology Choir demonstrates the group's high artistic level and its significant role in promoting choral music.
This event will go down in the history of the choir as a great success and at the same time an inspiration to further develop their passion and raise their artistic level.
Congratulations!
