Greater Poland Council for Nuclear Energy

On 25 February, the inaugural meeting of the Greater Poland Council for Nuclear Energy took place at the headquarters of the Marshal's Office of the Greater Poland Voivodeship.

The Council has been established to support the development of safe nuclear energy in the region, with a particular focus on advocating for the location of Poland's second large-scale nuclear power plant in Eastern Greater Poland. This objective is considered one of the region's key strategic priorities.

As an advisory and consultative body to the Management Board of the Greater Poland Voivodeship, the Council provides a platform for cooperation among the region's leading stakeholders involved in the development of the nuclear energy sector. It aims to facilitate dialogue, exchange knowledge and opinions on nuclear energy, and strengthen the collective voice of the people of Greater Poland on this important issue.

The development of the nuclear energy sector is expected to play a significant role in supporting the region's energy transition and decarbonisation efforts. Reliable and safe nuclear power can contribute to achieving the European Union's ambitious climate goals under the Paris Agreement, while ensuring a stable future energy mix based on renewable energy sources, energy storage technologies, and hydrogen solutions.
