On October 9th, Poznan University of Technology inaugurated the 105th anniversary of Polish higher technical education in Poznan.
During the ceremonial inauguration, we officially began the new academic year. The Rector of Poznan University of Technology welcomed distinguished guests, including Prof. Maria Mrówczyńska, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education; Polish Senator Waldemar Witkowski; Joanna Humerczyk, assistant to MEP Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus; Jakub Sudera, assistant to MP Bartosz Zawieja; Agata Sobczyk, Voivode of Greater Poland; Wojciech Jankowiak, Deputy Marshal of Greater Poland Voivodeship; Grzegorz Ganowicz, Chairman of Poznan City Council; Mariusz Wiśniewski, Deputy Mayor of Poznan; Jan Grabkowski, Starost of Poznan; Michał Kurzawski, Deputy Director of the Department of Regional Policy at the Marshal's Office of Greater Poland Voivodeship; His Excellency Bishop Grzegorz Balcerek; and Jolanta Musielak, Chair of the University Council.
As is tradition, guests also included rectors and vice-rectors of non-public universities, chancellors of Poznan’s institutions, former rectors, distinguished professors of Poznan University of Technology, representatives of government and local administration, CEOs and directors of companies and industrial establishments in the city and region, as well as presidents and chairpersons of societies, organizations, unions, and directors of banks collaborating with our University.
A moment of silence was observed to honour those who have departed from the academic community:
- Kacper Guzik – staff member of the Maintenance and Operations Department
- Andrzej Meyer, PhD – staff member of the Institute of Automation and Robotics
- Dariusz Młyńczak – staff member of the General Affairs Department
- Małgorzata Płoskonka – staff member of the Student Housing Complex
- prof. Stanisław Popławski – retired staff member of the Faculty of Management Engineering
- Prof. Tadeusz Stefanowicz – retired staff member of the Institute of Chemistry and Technical Electrochemistry
- Eugeniusz Wolek – staff member of the Institute of Civil Engineering.
The central point of the ceremony was the matriculation of first-year students, conducted by the Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education, prof. Agnieszka Misztal. The matriculation of doctoral students was carried out by prof. Agnieszka Misztal, along with the Director of the Doctoral School, prof. Alina Dudkowiak.
A tradition at our university during the academic year's inauguration is to present symbolic student index books to alumni who began their studies fifty years ago. The re-matriculation ceremony was conducted by the Vice-Rector for Research, prof. Wojciech Sumelka.
An integral part of the ceremonial inauguration of the academic year at a university is the inaugural lecture. This year, the lecture was delivered by Prof. Marian Gorynia from the University of Economics, titled "The Economy of Moderation as a Manifestation of Civilizational Transition."
After the inaugural lecture, it was time for speeches from the guests. The following individuals addressed the audience: Prof. Maria Mrówczyńska, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education; Prof. Bogumiła Kaniewska, Rector of Adam Mickiewicz University; Jolanta Musielak, Chair of the University Council; Prof. Tadeusz Krzeszkowiak from Vienna, an alumnus of our University; and Lucyna Sutkowska, a representative of the students.
The next item on the agenda was the presentation of medals and awards to students and graduates. The award ceremony was led by prof. Agnieszka Misztal, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education.
The "Outstanding Graduate of PUT" medals were awarded to:

Awards and congratulatory letters for outstanding academic achievements were presented to:

- MSc Eng. arch. Natalia Marczyńska,
- MSc Eng. Jakub Zenger.
Among the best athletes, the following were distinguished:
- Wojciech Niedziela and Aleksander Soroko from the Faculty of Computing and Telecommunications.
At the end, special Rector’s awards were presented to employees who distinguished themselves in teaching and scientific work.
For outstanding teaching achievements in the past year, the special Rector’s award of Poznan University of Technology was awarded to:
- Prof. Agata Gawlak from the Faculty of Architecture
- Prof. Marlena Kucz from the Faculty of Transport and Civil Engineering
- Prof. Alina Pruss from the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Energy, awarded a first-degree team prize for the project “Universal Design in the Strategy for Improving the Efficiency of Education at Poznan University of Technology”;
- prof. Miłosz Kadziński, from the Faculty of Computing and Telecommunications, was awarded a third-degree individual prize for his significant contribution to the development of the programs and specializations offered by the Faculty of Computing and Telecommunications, as well as exemplary mentorship of junior staff, doctoral students, and students;
- prof. Grzegorz Pawłowski, prof. Katarzyna Ragin-Skorecka, prof. Hanna Włodarkiewicz-Klimek, and MSc Eng. Hubert Wojciechowski from the Faculty of Engineering Management, were awarded a third-degree team prize for establishing the Faculty's Smart Factory 4.0 Laboratory along with the concept of shaping and supporting education for the fields of management engineering, logistics, and safety engineering conducted in the Laboratory.
For outstanding scientific achievements, the following were awarded:

- Agata Zdarta, PhD from the Faculty of Chemical Technology for their achievements in research of natural and anthropogenic bioactive compounds and their interaction with environmental microorganism cells.
The third-degree individual award was presented to Prof. Hanna Bogucka from the Faculty of Computing and Telecommunications for a series of scientific publications, plenary lectures, and securing the CHIST-Era project.
The award ceremony was led by the Vice-Rector for Research, Prof. Wojciech Sumelka.
The ceremony was enhanced by a performance from the Poznan University of Technology Choir, Volantes Soni.
