Official Unveiling of the “Erasmus – A Window to the World” Mural at Poznan University of Technology!

The “Erasmus – A Window to the World” mural symbolises Poznan University of Technology's openness to international cooperation, the exchange of experiences and intercultural dialogue. It is a visual story of an idea that has connected academic communities across borders for many years.
The mural was created as a tribute to the importance of the Erasmus+ programme, which plays a significant role in shaping the modern model of education. The programme offers not only the opportunity to study abroad, but above all a space for personal development, building lasting relationships and gaining experiences that influence the future personal and professional lives of its participants.

The mural was designed by Professor Radosław Barek from Poznan University of Technology – an artist and architect whose works have become a permanent part of Poznan's urban landscape. His work combines aesthetic qualities with a profound message, giving public spaces a new dimension of meaning.
The mural depicts cities that, when the concept was developed, played a key role in academic exchange – both the cities from which the largest numbers of international students came to Poznan University of Technology and those to which our University's students most frequently travelled under the Erasmus+ programme.
In this way, the mural becomes a unique map of academic mobility – a record of dynamic relationships and directions of cooperation that continue to evolve as the world changes. The image reflects the situation in 2025, documenting an important stage in the University's internationalisation journey.
“Erasmus – A Window to the World” is not only a work of art, but also an expression of the values that guide modern education: openness, diversity and the development of a shared European academic space.

The unveiling of the mural accompanies the 3rd European Universities Conference organised by FRSE and hosted by Poznan University of Technology. The conference highlights the importance of integrating knowledge, potential and competencies in building a competitive, innovative and responsible Europe. It is dedicated to the future of academic cooperation in Europe.
For more than three decades, FRSE has supported Polish universities, schools, organisations and institutions in building lasting European partnerships and developing the skills of the future. Thanks to the Erasmus+ programme, thousands of students, researchers and academic staff from Poland have been able to gain experience abroad, while Polish universities – including Poznan University of Technology – have become active contributors to the development of the modern European Education Area.

The ceremony was attended, among others, by Professor Teofil Jesionowski, Rector of Poznan University of Technology; Mirosław Marczewski, Director General of the Foundation for the Development of the Education System – the National Agency for the Erasmus+ Programme; and Professor Radosław Barek, the designer of the mural.
