We are pleased to announce that two doctoral students from the Faculty of Chemical Technology at the Poznan University of Technology – Aleksandra Makiej and Adam Grzywaczyk – won a prestigious award at the international EU TalentOn 2024 competition, which took place in Katowice from September 9–12, 2024. The ReviSoil team, consisting of Aleksandra Makiej, Adam Grzywaczyk, Qumber Abbas, and Emma Olmi, took first place in the category "Soil Fertility Restoration" by presenting an innovative solution for the recycling of bio-waste to support the regeneration of urban soils. Furthermore, their achievements were honoured with the EU TalentOn Alumni Award for their exceptional determination and original approach.
EU TalentOn is a unique initiative aimed at young researchers from across Europe, organized within the Horizon Europe program. This year’s edition attracted 1270 applicants from 35 countries, with only 108 participants aged 21 to 35 qualifying for the competition. These participants represented various fields of science and competed in international, four-member teams, tackling challenges in five categories addressing critical global issues. These categories included: climate change adaptation, cancer research, ocean and water protection, development of climate-neutral smart cities, and improvement of European soil health.
We congratulate our PhD students and wish them continued success in their research and scientific endeavours!
