Poznan 2025 World Boccia Challenger

From June 23–30, 2025, the sports facilities of Poznan University of Technology hosted another edition of the international competition for athletes with disabilities—the prestigious Poznan 2025 World Boccia Challenger.

The tournament was organised by World Boccia, the Polish Boccia Association, and Poznan University of Technology.

Athletes from 22 countries around the world took part, competing for top places in both individual and team classifications. The competition also awarded valuable ranking points toward qualification for the Paralympic Games.

Polish representatives achieved excellent results in the individual events, winning a total of five medals:

  • Damian Iskrzycki with ramp operator Dariusz Borowskigold medal in Men’s BC3 Individual,
  • Dominik Walczykgold medal in Men’s BC4 Individual,
  • Kinga Koza with sport assistant Barbara Wysockasilver medal in Women’s BC1 Individual,
  • Edyta Owczarz with ramp operator Krystyna Owczarzsilver medal in Women’s BC3 Individual,
  • Jakub Wójcikbronze medal in Men’s BC4 Individual.

In the team competition (Pairs and Teams classification), Damian Iskrzycki with operator Dariusz Borowski and Edyta Owczarz with ramp operator Krystyna Owczarz together formed the Polish BC3 Pair, winning a silver medal in the BC3 Pairs category.

The Poznan tournament enjoys great recognition in the global Boccia community thanks to its excellent organisation and Poznan’s reputation as a city friendly to persons with disabilities.
