We are delighted to announce that the CERES (Centre of Excellence in Railway Engineering) project has been selected as one of the successful projects in the prestigious Teaming for Excellence call under the Horizon Europe programme.

The aim of the project is to establish a centre of excellence in railway engineering in Poznan, bringing together an international research team and working in close cooperation with three European partners: Technische Universität Berlin (Germany), the University of Huddersfield (United Kingdom), and Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France (France).

The project was initiated and is led by Dr Bartosz Firlik, Associate Professor at Poznan University of Technology and Head of the Division of Rail Vehicles at Poznan University of Technology, who, together with his team, has been working on the project's concept and structure for more than a year.

The funding awarded by the European Commission amounts to more than EUR 14 million. In addition, the project will receive complementary funding from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, bringing the total budget to nearly EUR 30 million.

The CERES project will run for six years and will strengthen the research and development capacity of Poland and the Central and Eastern European region, while enhancing integration with the European Research Area in the field of railway engineering. In doing so, it will contribute to the objectives of the Teaming for Excellence programme, which focuses on establishing centres of excellence and strengthening research and innovation capacity in countries developing their scientific systems.
