Poznan University of Technology is launching micro-credentials – a modern form of confirming acquired knowledge, skills and competences. This is an important step towards developing a flexible educational offer at the university and adapting education to the dynamic needs of the labour market and the idea of lifelong learning.
The formal basis for the implementation of micro-credentials is Order No. 6 of the Rector of Poznan University of Technology of 25 February 2026, introducing the Regulations for Awarding Micro-Credentials at Poznan University of Technology. The document specifies the rules for designing, awarding and documenting micro-credentials at the university.
The new solution makes it possible to confirm learning outcomes achieved in short forms of education, such as courses, teaching modules, workshops or specialist training. Micro-credentials document specific competences – from technical knowledge and skills to cross-cutting competences – which can be developed independently of traditional study programmes.
A new dimension of competence validation
Micro-credentials are a response to the growing demand for flexible forms of education and rapid updating of competences. They enable participants to acquire and document specific learning outcomes in a shorter period of time and then build individual development paths by combining successive educational modules.
This allows students, doctoral students and those developing professional competences to present their qualifications to employers and educational institutions in a transparent manner.
Digital micro-credentials
At Poznan University of Technology, micro-credentials will be issued in digital form, using modern technologies that enable their secure storage and verification.
For this purpose, the university uses the DoxyChain platform, which enables comprehensive management of digital credentials – from their design and issuance to distribution and verification. The blockchain-based system ensures the authenticity of documents and enables their immediate verification by institutions and employers.
Micro-credentials can function as reliable digital confirmation of competence, which can be easily shared and presented in the academic environment and on the labour market.
The purchase of the micro-credential platform was financed by funds obtained from the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) as part of the programme entitled Support for European Universities ( FERS.01.05-IP.08-0219/23), project entitled: "Cooperation and education within the EUNICE alliance".

Micro-credentials in the European educational area
The development of micro-credentials is one of the key elements of the transformation of European higher education. They enable the creation of more flexible and modular educational paths and support educational and professional mobility.
Poznan University of Technology also awards micro-credentials in international cooperation within the EUNICE alliance - European University for Customised Education, which is led by the university.
