From June 11–13, 2025, the Poznan University of Technology Choir Volantes Soni took part in the second edition of the International Choral Meetings Stetinum Cantat — a unique artistic project organized by the Opera at the Castle in Szczecin as part of the Interreg VIA Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania / Brandenburg / Poland 2021–2027 Cooperation Program.
The event brought together 11 choirs from Poland and Germany, soloists affiliated with the Academy of Art in Szczecin, and the Opera at the Castle Orchestra. The meetings concluded with a grand final concert at the Helena Majdaniec Summer Theatre in Szczecin — a modern amphitheatre seating nearly 2,500 people, ranking among the most important open-air venues in Poland.
The PUT Choir was represented by an almost 60-member ensemble, which spent three days participating in intensive rehearsals and also presented its repertoire during an accompanying concert in the picturesque Rose Garden in Szczecin. On Wednesday, June 11, Volantes Soni performed some of the most popular and beloved pieces from its permanent repertoire, receiving an enthusiastic welcome from the Szczecin audience.
The highlight of the event was the final concert, held on Friday, June 13, featuring a full 400-member choir of singers from Poland and Germany. The program included masterpieces of operatic music by the greatest composers, such as O Fortuna (Carmina Burana – Carl Orff), Nessun dorma (Turandot – Giacomo Puccini), the Gypsy Chorus Chi del gitano (Il trovatore – Giuseppe Verdi), the Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves Va pensiero (Nabucco – Giuseppe Verdi), the Brindisi Libiamo ne’ lieti calici (La traviata – Giuseppe Verdi), and Cisza dokoła (The Haunted Manor – Stanisław Moniuszko).
Participation in Stetinum Cantat was an invaluable artistic and organizational experience for the PUT Choir Volantes Soni — an opportunity for international collaboration, vocal development, and the exchange of musical inspirations in a unique setting and atmosphere.
