From March 17–22, 2025, a delegation from Poznan University of Technology carried out a series of visits to leading universities and research institutes in Taiwan.
The delegation included:
- Rector Prof. Teofil Jesionowski,
- Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Prof. Mariusz Głąbowski,
- and Prof. Anna Kobusińska, Head of the Division of Computing Science at the Institute of Computing Science.
The purpose of the visit was to establish long-term partnerships in academic research and teaching, with a particular focus on student and staff mobility programs and the development of joint research projects.
The delegation visited top Taiwanese academic and research institutions: Chang Gung University (CGU), National Taiwan University (NTU), Asia University (AU), National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), and Academia Sinica.
At CGU, the delegation was welcomed by President Prof. Ming-Je Tang. The discussion focused on expanding the cooperation initiated by Prof. Anna Kobusińska in the area of distributed systems research to a broader range of research topics involving scholars from Poznan University of Technology. Potential pathways for developing student exchange programs—both short-term research visits and long-term study programs—were also explored.
Additionally, a cooperation agreement was signed between PUT’s Center for Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity and the CGU AI Research Center. The collaboration will include research on the use of AI in smart healthcare, the organization of international seminars, and student exchange programs.
The delegation also had the opportunity to visit key CGU units, such as the AI Research Center, the College of Intelligent Computing, the B5G Communication Lab, and the Smart Sensing Lab. These visits provided in-depth insight into CGU’s research areas and opened up further possibilities for collaboration in intelligent data processing, AI, and electromechanical materials.
At NTU, meetings were held with Vice Presidents Prof. Hsiao-Wei Yuan and Prof. Jiun-Haw Lee, who oversee international cooperation. Discussions included the scientific and educational potential of both institutions, the possibilities for joint student and staff mobility programs, collaborative research, involvement in the EUNICE University network, and student internship programs. As one of Taiwan’s top research universities, NTU’s strong academic position and achievements across many disciplines make this newly initiated cooperation highly promising and full of opportunities for future joint academic and research initiatives.
At Asia University, the delegation met with President Prof. Jeffrey Tsai to discuss potential directions for scientific collaboration and student mobility. During the visit to NTUST, the delegation participated in the university’s 50th anniversary celebrations, which provided a unique opportunity for dialogue on potential areas of cooperation.
At Academia Sinica, Taiwan’s equivalent of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the delegation met with Prof. Kai-Min Chung, a prominent researcher in the field of distributed systems. Opportunities for scientific collaboration between the two institutions were explored.
Additionally, the delegation met with Mr. Cyryl Kozaczewski, Director of the Polish Office in Taipei, who presented opportunities for PUT’s participation in Taiwanese education fairs organized by European missions.
The PUT delegation also participated in the Taipei Smart City Summit and Expo, where, together with Mayor of Poznań Jacek Jaśkowiak, they discussed potential university-industry cooperation with Taiwanese companies through joint research projects.
The visit of the Poznan University of Technology delegation to Taiwan proved highly fruitful. The partnership with Chang Gung University was formalized with the signing of a cooperation agreement, and the meetings at NTU, AU, NTUST, and Academia Sinica opened new doors for academic partnerships, exchange programs, and joint research. This visit enables the further development of scientific cooperation and the expansion of PUT’s international academic network.
