On July 28, 2025, in Poznan, a letter of intent was signed between Poznan University of Technology (PUT) and the Hipolit Cegielski State Academy of Applied Sciences in Gniezno (ANS) regarding joint efforts to establish a federation of universities.
The document was signed by:
- Prof. Teofil Jesionowski – Rector of Poznan University of Technology,
- Prof. Paweł Chęciński – Rector of ANS in Gniezno.
The purpose of the signed agreement is to establish a formal framework for strengthening scientific and educational cooperation between the two institutions through the joint implementation of various initiatives, including postgraduate studies, doctoral education, scientific research, degree awarding, and the commercialisation of research results. The planned federation also envisions intensified use of infrastructure and human resources, as well as joint efforts to strengthen the position of both institutions within the national and international academic community.
Both universities have declared their intention to create appropriate organizational, financial, and legal frameworks for the functioning of the federation. The detailed terms of cooperation will be defined in the statute and further agreements.
ANS in Gniezno was represented by:
- Agnieszka Ulatowska, PhD, Professor of ANS – Vice-Rector for Student Affairs,
- Assoc. Prof. Janusz Wiśniewski – Vice-Rector for Organization, Development, and Cooperation,
- Maciej Olejniczak – Managing Director.
Poznan University of Technology was represented by:
- Assoc. Prof. Agnieszka Misztal – Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education,
- Prof. Wojciech Sumelka– Vice-Rector for Science,

The signing of the letter marks a significant step toward establishing robust, integrated academic centres in the region, capable of undertaking ambitious research and educational initiatives.
