From June 5 to June 7, 2026, Bad Schussenried, Germany, hosted the European Railway Challenge, an international competition for student teams testing their hand-built locomotives on a 10 ¼-inch track. During the event, teams competed in technical and practical challenges related to locomotive design, automatic stopping, ride comfort, energy systems, and business case presentation. The PUTrain team, representing the Scientific Club of Public Transport Engineers at Poznan University of Technology, achieved outstanding success by taking first place in the overall classification and earning the title of Grand Champion. In addition, PUTrain won first place in the following categories:
- Auto-Stop Challenge
- Ride Comfort Challenge
- Energy Storage Challenge
- Design Report Challenge
- Business Case Challenge
This achievement confirms the high level of technical skills, creativity and commitment of the PUTrain team, showing that students of Poznan University of Technology successfully compete at the European level.
