From 23–26 September 2025, during the TRAKO International Trade Fair — one of the most important events in Poland’s transport industry — Poznan University of Technology showcased the current outcomes of the Rail4Earth project, implemented in collaboration with PKP, the Łukasiewicz Research Network (IEL and WIT), the Military University of Technology in Warsaw, and the AGH University of Science and Technology.
Poznan University of Technology was represented, among others, by Prof. Katarzyna Rzeszut (WILiT), who gave a lecture on modular railway stations in the context of sustainable construction. She was also invited to participate in a debate presenting the results of Europe’s Rail JU partnership projects carried out by the PKP S.A. R&D ecosystem. During the debate, Prof. Rzeszut highlighted the uniqueness of the solutions at the European level using the example of the Green Modular Station, emphasising that the modularity and flexibility of the proposed construction solutions align perfectly with international EU trends. She also referred to the innovative concepts developed by the PKP S.A. ecosystem, which incorporate the latest trends in CO₂ reduction and sustainable development, including circular economy principles.
At the same time, at the PKP S.A. exhibition stand dedicated to the Rail4Earth project, M.Sc. Eng. Alicja Krajewska (WILiT) presented a virtual tour using VR glasses. Additionally, a scale model of the modular station, created by Borys Siewczyński PhD (WA), was displayed. Monika Siewczyński, PhD, also prepared the VR visualization of the virtual model based on the original concept of the innovative modular station building developed by Monika Siewczyńska, PhD (WILiT).
The results related to the modular station attracted significant interest from fair attendees as well as PKP S.A. officials, including Vice President Dariusz Grajda and Director of the R&D Office Michał Rak. They announced the decision to implement the innovative modular station investment based on the concept proposed by Poznan University of Technology. The station will be constructed in Oborniki Wlkp. under the government program “Passenger-Friendly Stations”, coordinated by the Ministry of Infrastructure and PKP S.A.
