The National Science Centre has awarded funding for an application submitted to the international competition CHIST-ERA Call 2023 (European coordinated research on long-term ICT and ICT-based scientific Challenges).
The project entitled Design of a software layer with plug-and-play functionality for the integration of data from robotic sensors with GIS tools in cloud architecture will be implemented as part of an international consortium coordinated by the University of Liège. The work of the Polish research team will be led by prof. Robert Wrembel, leader of the Interdisciplinary Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity. The amount of funding awarded to the Poznan University of Technology is PLN 810,080.
The convergence of robotic technologies and sensor networks (IoRT) is generating huge volumes of data with potential applications in several areas, such as agriculture and urban planning. However, the lack of interoperability between this data and geographic information system (GIS) tools is a challenge. The GIS4IoRT project aims to develop a middleware layer (and its plug and play implementation) between the GIS system and IoRT devices. This layer will be based on cloud technologies.
