Summary of the 3rd Symposium on Motorboat Technology

On May 23, 2025, the 3rd Symposium on Motorboat Technology was held at the Lecture Centre of Poznan University of Technology, organized by the interfaculty student research group PUT Powertrain. The event brought together a wide array of innovation enthusiasts, members of the academic community, marine industry experts, and students from across Poland. It was not only a moment for academic discussion but also a celebration of passion, engineering spirit, and a vision for the future of water transport.

  • 150 participants
  • 15 speakers
  • 6 watercrafts showcased at the Lecture Centre (and one pontoon in front of the workshop)
  • Over 200 knots tied during the presentations
  • Hundreds of conversations
  • An infinite number of ambitions and smiles on our faces!

The symposium began at 10:00 AM, gathering more than 140 people in the auditorium of the Lecture Centre. The event's program was meticulously planned — with substantial lectures, practical sessions, and inspiring hallway conversations.

Throughout the day, 15 speakers from various Polish cities — including Warsaw, Szczecin, Gdynia, Kraków, and Koszęcin — delivered presentations. These included both seasoned researchers and representatives of companies and institutions connected with the marine industry and renewable energy. Each talk brought unique academic value, and the range of topics enabled participants to view motorboat-related issues from many angles.

The topics discussed included:

  • Designing watercraft using modern composite materials
  • Development of electric propulsion and alternative power sources
  • Monitoring and optimizing operational parameters using digital twins
  • The future of renewable energy in water transport
  • Safety and sustainable development in inland and coastal navigation

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of motor and sailing yachts by PUT Powertrain’s partners on the university grounds. In front of the Lecture Centre, participants could view the flagship Solliner 21 model by Green Dream Boats, Viko S22 and S26 by Viko Yachts, an electric water scooter by Tamaskan, a hovercraft – AIRSLIDE A33, and a pontoon – VETUS VB330. Attendees had the chance to feel, for a moment, like crew members or captains of the showcased vessels.

The 3rd Symposium on Motorboat Technology was recognized not only for the quality of the presentations but also for the professional organization and unique atmosphere. Participants included not only students and lecturers from Poznan University of Technology but also guests from outside the university – in total, over 140 attendees, which is an impressive number and a sign of growing interest in this field.

A poster session was also organized for young researchers and scientists, giving them a chance to present their current achievements. King Tony sponsored prizes for the top three poster submissions.

The symposium was also an opportunity to thank the many partners – both from the industry and academia – for their support. The event was promoted in both industry and local media, further boosting its reach and prestige.

Thanks to the students’ commitment, university support, and the openness of the speakers, the symposium became an important platform for idea exchange and innovation promotion. It is clear that MKN PUT Powertrain is not only developing breakthrough projects but also actively contributing to the growth of engineering awareness in Poland.

The 3rd Symposium on Motorboat Technology will undoubtedly remain in the memories of its participants for a long time. It was not only a chance to gain up-to-date knowledge and explore cutting-edge technologies, but also an inspiring meeting of passionate individuals — both newcomers to the field and those who have shaped the Polish motorboating industry for years.

We are already looking forward to the fourth edition, which — judging by the dynamic development of the event — promises to bring even more inspiration, knowledge, and scientifically driven excitement.
