Technology Meets Passion – PUT Student Research Clubs at the Hobby Fair

Last weekend, the Student Research Clubs of Poznan University of Technology represented our university at the Hobby Fair, organised by the Poznan International Fair (MTP).

With passion, they spoke about what they love…

Student Research Club of Public Transport Engineers (KNITP)

KNITP students presented the result of their learning and experience — the PUTrain locomotive. It was built by students to run on a 260 mm gauge track in order to take part in the Railway Challenge competition.

Student Research Club: Robotics, Automation and Computer Science (KNRAI)

At the KNRAI stand, visitors could see the ASTORINO robot and a miniature production line for toy cars!

The students introduced visitors to the world of automation and robotics — from programming manipulators to working industrial systems in miniature.

Student Research Club PUT Rocketlab

At the PUT Rocketlab stand, visitors could admire the club’s flagship design — the HEXA 5 sounding rocket. This experimental research rocket contributed to the development of the Broomstick series hybrid rocket engines. It also enabled testing of proprietary avionics systems as well as remote execution of launch service procedures.

The name HEXA comes from a swirl injector, which in their first engine had six injection ports (hence “Hex”).

Student Research Club Spektrum

Spektrum invited visitors into the world of radio communication, experiments, and learning through fun!

The educational game “Fox Hunting” (hunters of the airwaves) — searching for a hidden radio transmitter.

The IASPEES head — an original measuring-head design used in research and analysis of radio signals.

A head model for studying the impact of electromagnetic waves — research on how radiation affects the human body and safe use of wireless technologies.

A live demonstration of signals from a radio telescope — real signals from space and fascinating radio astronomy.

MKN PUT Motorsport

Students presented their newest race car — PMX Malta.

It is a next-generation electric race car that competed this year in Formula Student Germany and Formula Student Poland. It features four independent in-wheel motors, an active DRS system inspired by Formula 1, a new high-voltage (HV) battery with Tesla cells, and a lightweight structure optimised for both mass and stiffness.

The Hobby Fair was organised by the Student Affairs Centre and the Information and Promotion Department.

Volunteering and photos: students from the student organisation PROgressio PROmotio — Kamila, Mieszko, Adam, Bartłomiej, Wiktoria and Zosia.

Thank you — and see you at Poznan University of Technology!
