BUP Science and Sail 2024
The summer school will take place between August 4th and 11th, 2024, in Klaipeda, Lithuania, and on the waters of the Baltic Sea. Accepted students will study the sensitive environment of the Baltic Sea, both on land and at sea, under the guidance of leading experts from the region.
Part of the summer school will take place aboard the Brabander sailboat of Klaipeda University, sailing through the southeastern part of the Baltic Sea, conducting tests and collecting samples. Participants will also study the unique coastal environment of the Curonian Spit and the Nemunas River Delta, learning about the impact and solutions related to climate change, loss of biodiversity, and human aspects of the unique Baltic Sea environment.
The summer school is free of charge, and applications are open to undergraduate or graduate students at universities that are members of BUP. A total of 36 students and 3 doctoral students will be selected. Doctoral students will have a unique opportunity to participate in the entire program alongside students, while also developing their teaching and mentoring skills. Students from all types of study programs are welcome to participate, and no prior knowledge about the Baltic Sea environment is required.
