The PUT and Wielton S.A. cooperation

The cooperation agreement signed today by the Poznan University of Technology with Wielton S.A. comprises cooperation in the field of education for the needs of current technical challenges, joint R&D projects, implementation of master and doctoral theses. The agreement was signed by the Rector, prof. Teofil Jesionowski and Vice-president of the Wielton Management Board, Piotr Kuś.

The main purpose of the agreement is to consolidate the university's experience and scientific achievements with Wielton potential and market position. The strategic directions include cooperation in the field of education for the needs of current technical challenges, dual studies; internship offer for students and doctoral students, developing the potential of the staff under the "Implementation doctorate" programme; implementation of R&D projects co-financed from national and foreign funds.

Detailed cooperation will include creating an interdisciplinary team designing research standards in the field of cooling, exchange and transfer of experience, knowledge and results of scientific activities in the field of cooling, joint implementation of diploma theses, mutual consultation in the field of cooling, joint publications.

Prof. Teofil Jesionowski, Rector of the Poznań University of Technology is convinced that the signed agreement will be beneficial for students, doctoral students, employees and the university.  “Wielton is not only about trailers, but also about the new product quality. Here, the science will be able to carry out large projects ”.

Piotr Kuś, Vice President of the Management Board of Wielton SA, emphasizes that the agreement is an opportunity to test scientific theories and use them in practice. “It should be remembered that we live in times when knowledge and competencies are significant from the point of view of being a leader in a given industry. We want to use these competencies to develop our product offer”.

Wielton S.A. based in Wielun is the largest Polish manufacturer of semi-trailers, trailers and rigid bodies. The company listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange is one of the ten largest producers in its industry in the world.

The Wielton Group has four production centres in Poland, Germany, France and Great Britain and two assembly plants in Italy and Russia. The Group currently employs approx. 3.3 thousand employees, as many as 1.9 thousand in Wieluń. In 2016, Wielton S.A. opened a Research and Development Center in Wieluń. Investments in research are important elements of the company strategy. The company already cooperates with institutes and Polish and foreign universities. The Research and Development Department Center has the only station in Poland, and the second in Europe, for testing of trailers, which enables detection of faults already at the testing stage of manufactured vehicles.
