On August 23 - 28, 2022, at the Sports Center of the Poznan University of Technology Poznan 2022 World Boccia Intercontinental Challenger competition will be held. The event is organized by the Polish Boccia Association based in Poznan in association with the Bocci International Sports Federation (BISFed). BISFed is the managing organization of the discipline on behalf of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

Boccia is the fastest growing paralympic sport in the world, it is derived from the game bocce, and it is played by people with the most severe disabilities, using wheelchairs. About 80 competitors from 18 countries, including Kuwait, Indonesia, Mexico, India and Egypt will compete in Poznan.

Apart from 27 sports clubs associated with PZBoccia, the discipline is present in Poland in the rehabilitation and integrating-educational dimension in the programs of approx. 300 associations, foundations, schools, and educational centres throughout the country. “Polska Boccia” through the Erasmus + Sport programme supports the development of the discipline in Georgia, Macedonia, Estonia and Bulgaria. PZBoccia is responsible for the national team.

Boccia is a sophisticated game, it requires concentration and remarkable precision one throw can radically change the course of the game. The player's intelligence, mathematical memory and strategy determine success in the game. Boccia players are characterized by severe motor dysfunction, and muscle weakness visible in all four limbs.
