PUT students in the Seeds for the Future finals

At the beginning of July, the finals of the "Seeds for the Future" competition took place in Rome. The aim of this competition is to promote students who have interesting ideas for solving important social problems using Huawei technology. 145 students from 23 European countries took part in the final, including 10 students from Poland (3 from our university), whose applications in the recruitment process stood out among the remaining several hundred candidates. The students were divided into teams of several people. Each team prepared a project proposing a solution to a problem that fits into one of the 17 sustainable development goals adopted by the UN as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

ICT students: Maja Maćkowiak, Arkadiusz Niedziela and Jan Pokrywczyński participated in two Polish teams.

The first team to adopt the name Sie-ma presented the concept of an application that makes it easier for people to take care of their health and well-being. Thanks to personalized gamification, monitoring of health parameters and the ability to keep a diary, the application helps users better understand emotions. It also motivates them to act and makes it easier to prepare for medical visits, making them more effective. The Sie-ma application will use Huawei technologies such as artificial intelligence and cloud computing.

The second Polish team that caught the jury's attention and was among the top ten teams from all over Europe was Beelivers. Maja and Arkadiusz, together with the other students from the group, presented a project whose main goal is to save bees. Using Huawei Cloud, a camera installed in the hive would analyze the image, and the system would detect mites that cause a deadly bee disease - varroa. Then the system will automatically apply herbal smoke to the hive, which will kill the mites without harming the bees..
