On Friday, April 12, the award ceremony of Doctor Honoris Causa was held at the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France.
In 2024, UPHF highlighted personalities from African countries.
The title of Doctor Honoris Causa, which is a distinction awarded by the university to a person who has become famous in a given field (sport, art, science, literature, etc.), was awarded to five exceptional personalities:
- Ouided Bouchamaoui - winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, representative of the economic environment of Tunisia
- Hicham El Guerrouj - Moroccan long-distance runner, winner of gold medals at the Olympics and World Championships
- Yasmina Khadra - Algerian writer
- Koffi Kwahule - playwright and writer from Côte d'Ivoire
- Manu Dibango - jazz saxophonist from Cameroon (awarded posthumously).
The ceremony and the doctoral promotion took place at the Phenix-Scene Nationale theatre.
Prof Michał Wieczorowski – Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation with Business and Industry represented the Poznan University of Technology
Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France belongs to the EUNICE consortium, of which Poznan University of Technology is the leader.
