BUILT - A WALK FROM THE FIFTH SERIES IS BEHIND US!

At the invitation of the Poznan branch of the SARP Board, this time the WAWIZ building was on display. The participants of the walk met in front of the entrance, after a short introduction by the author of the project – prof. Sławomir Rosolski, the visitors saw the building, and then listened to a short lecture on the lighting of the building.

The building of the Faculty of Architecture and the Faculty of Management Engineering was commissioned in 2020. The facility was built in the heart of the Warta Campus of the Poznan University of Technology, next to other didactic and research buildings, the sports hall and the library.

The project uses the best patterns of ancient architecture and the latest technological achievements. The simple, cubic form of the building was inspired by the proportions of the Greek Parthenon. In the western wall of the building, there is an entrance leading to a three-storey glazed atrium serving as an internal courtyard. The beauty of the building is emphasized by unique lighting (cobalt illumination on the roof), which emphasizes its location in the space. WAWIZ is an almost zero-energy building. It has photovoltaic cells, increased thermal protection of external partitions, sun protection, HVAC systems, ground heat exchanger, heat recovery from exhaust air, ventilation and air conditioning units with heat pumps and many other technologies that make the facility ahead of its time and far beyond the requirements as defined for NZEB by the European Union.

BUILT is a series of architectural walks initiated by the Association of Polish Architects, Poznan Branch, in connection with the 20th edition of the Jan Baptiste Quadro for the best architectural realization. This year, the fifth edition of the series takes place, which invariably attracts the interest of Poznan residents and architects
