From May 31 to June 2, 2024, Bad Schussenried, Germany, became the arena for the second edition of the Alpha Trains European Railway Challenge.
This exciting event was attended by students who competed by testing their hand-built locomotives on a 10 ¼-inch track. This competition is a real test of skill and innovation, during which key traction parameters are assessed, such as vibration level, acceleration, efficiency of energy recovery systems during braking and the precision of automatic stopping of the locomotive in a designated place. But that's not all - teams must also demonstrate speed of service, reliability and documentation and business skills.
In this year's edition, the PUTrain team, representing the Scientific Club of Public Transport Engineers, triumphed again, winning first place in the general classification and the honourable title of Grand Champion!
Moreover, the PUTrain team won the highest awards in the following categories:
Reliability
Hitchhiking system
Design
Driving comfort
Energy recovery
This spectacular victory proves that Polish students are at the forefront of European engineering.
Hearty congratulations!!!
