On May 14-16, 2024, the 8th edition of the international MANUFACTURING conference, organized by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, took place at the Poznan University of Technology. 191 participants from 21 countries registered for the event. The conference was opened by prof. Olaf Ciszak, Dean of the Military Institute of Medicine, prof/ Michał Wieczorowski, Vice-Rector for Development and Cooperation with Business and Industry, and prof. Adam Hamrol, General Chair of the conference. The opening ceremony was hosted by Magdalena Hryb, PhD. Plenary lectures were delivered by prof. Piotr Moncarz, representing Stanford University in the USA, "AI in manufacturing - how to prepare new cadres?" and prof. Mirosław Pajor, representing the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin, with a presentation "Selected aspects of production digitization and technology of Digital Twins". On the first day of the conference, there was also a panel discussion on good practices, opportunities and challenges in cooperation between science, industry and business. The panel was hosted by Vice-Rector Wieczorowski, and the panelists were Piotr Moncarz (Stanford University), Anna Frąckowiak (Samsung Electronics Poland Manufacturing), Ralf Woll (BTU Cottbus), Agnieszka Barska (Recaro Aircraft Seating) and Artur Meller (Fabryka Armatu "Swarzędz").

This year's edition had a high representation of individuals from the socio-economic sphere, not limited to Poland. The conference partners and/or sponsors were:

  • Fabryka Armatur “Swarzędz” sp. z o.o.
  • HIT Kody Kreskowe sp.j.
  • SKF Polska S.A.
  • Aesculap Chifa sp. z o. o.
  • Kimball Electronics Poland sp. z o. o.
  • JassBoard sp. z o. o.
  • USPTC - US-Polish Trade Council
  • Investor Service Office of the City of Poznan.

During the conference, 143 scientific papers were presented, both oral and poster. 54% of submitted works were accepted for publication in post-conference materials - 107 of the best scientific articles were published in five books published by Springer Advances in Manufacturing IV:
