On November 5, 2024, the Rector of Poznan University of Technology (PUT), Professor Teofil Jesionowski, together with the Vice-Rector for Science, Professor Wojciech Sumelka, and Chancellor Łukasz Kalupa, PhD visited the headquarters of Thornton Tomasetti in New York.
The delegation was hosted by Paweł Woelke, PhD Senior Principal and Applied Science Practice Co-Lead at Thornton Tomasetti, and a distinguished alumnus of Poznan University of Technology. Discussions during the visit focused on potential collaboration, including opportunities for academic internships and professional placements.
It is noteworthy that Thornton Tomasetti, a global leader in providing expert services in structural, mechanical, and materials engineering, among other fields, is renowned for its work on high-profile projects. These include the analysis of the root causes of the World Trade Center collapse on September 11, 2001, the design of numerous iconic skyscrapers around the world, and the protection of critical infrastructure against terrorist threats.
