THE FACULTY OF ARCHITECTURE

The Faculty of Architecture of Poznan University of Technology offers degree programmes in the following fields of study: Architecture first- and second-cycle, Interior Architecture first-cycle and a postgraduate course in Spatial Planning. The Faculty is one of the four faculties of architecture at technical universities in Poland which has category A awarded to the best scientific units in accordance with the current parametric evaluation of scientific units carried out by the Committee for Evaluation of Scientific Units. In February 2018, the Polish Accreditation Committee awarded the Faculty of Architecture the highest grade with distinction in the field of Architecture.

The Faculty is also accredited by the Accreditation Commission of Universities of Technology (KAUT) and holds the EUR-ACE® Label quality certificate. The programme of studies is based on innovative teaching methods and the curriculum content focuses on modern achievements in the disciplines of architecture, urban planning and visual arts. Most of the classes conducted at the Faculty are practical (tutorials, laboratories, projects). The programme of studies ensures the development of competences and skills that have a direct impact on the quality of the designed space. Scientific research conducted at the Faculty provides students with the opportunity to participate in seminars, symposia or conferences, preparing them for scientific and research work. The Faculty of Architecture is located in a new facility on the Warta Campus, which is one of the most modern teaching facilities in Poland. By constant adaptation to the evolving expectations of the labour market, the Faculty’s graduates, equipped with indispensable knowledge, skills and social competences, successfully find jobs in Poland and abroad.

The Faculty’s students are also winners of many prestigious national and international architecture awards, such as the Minister of Infrastructure and Development Award, the Zbyszek Zawistowski "Diploma of the Year" Award organized by the Association of Polish Architects (SARP), the Władysław Czarnecki Award for the best semester work, the annual Polish-German Integration Award BDA-SARP for a project on shaping human social activity space, an award in a competition "Moja Wielkopolska [My Wielkopolska Region]" under the patronage of the Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region, the Voivode of the Wielkopolska Region and the Mayor of the City of Poznan organized by the Association of Polish Town Planners in Poznan, the Award of the City of Poznan for the best MA thesis and doctoral dissertation, an award in a competition "Moja Wielkopolska [My Wielkopolska Region]" for diploma theses related to spatial planning in the Wielkopolska Region organized by the Society of Polish Town Planners Branch in Poznan, the International Velux Award, the Finsa Award, and many others.

The Faculty of Architecture leads the way as for the number of beneficiaries of the Erasmus+ international programme. It provides an opportunity to study at one of 42 renowned partner universities in one of 15 countries. Every year, approximately 80-100 Faculty’s students take part in the Erasmus+ exchange. The Faculty of Architecture holds the approval of the European Commission confirmed by the entry in Annex V point 1 of Directive 2005/36/EC. The graduation diploma in Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of Poznan University of Technology is the basis for the automatic recognition of professional qualifications in countries of the European Union, the European Economic District and the Swiss Confederation, opening the way to full authorization of the profession of an architect in the above-mentioned countries.

FACULTY OF CONTROL, ROBOTICS AND ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

The beginnings of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering date back to February 1930 when first teaching classes were held. The Faculty, however, was formally established on 15 October 1929 by the Resolution of the Ministry of Religious Denominations and Public Enlightenment, which changed the name of the school to the State Higher School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, creating two faculties - Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. In the first period of activity of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (1930-1939), study programmes lasted 3.5 years, and graduates obtained the title of electrical technologist.

The first year of study was run jointly for the Faculties of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. The outbreak of the Second World War interrupted the activity of the School and the Faculty. In the first months of occupation, a German Ingenieur-Schule was established in the school building. It stopped operating in January 1945, when Red Army tanks approached the city. Despite the devastation of the equipment and the building located at the current Plac M. Skłodowskiej Curie 5, the teaching process was started by lecturers as early as 15 April 1945. In August 1945, diplomas were obtained by graduates who since April continued their studies interrupted by the war. The Decree of the Ministry of Education of 3 September 1945 ordered the reorganization of the State Higher School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and changed it into the Engineering School with three faculties: Construction, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. On the basis of the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of 3 September 1955, the Engineering School and the Engineering Night School were merged to form Poznan University of Technology.

A second type of academic activity - scientific research and training of academic staff - was started at the Faculty. In 2001, in connection with the creation of the Faculty of Computing and Management, three institutes and one chair remained in the structure of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, which was transformed into the Institute of Automatic Control and Computer Engineering. By the Resolution of the Academic Senate of Poznan University of Technology of 25 June 2003, the Inter-Faculty Institute of Mathematics joined the Faculty of Electrical Engineering as another organizational unit. In January 2020, the unit changed its name into the Faculty of Automatic Control, Robotics and Electrical Engineering. The new organizational structure is made up of four institutes: Automatic Control and Robotics, Electrical Engineering and Industrial Electronics, Mathematics, Robotics and Machine Intelligence.

THE FACULTY OF COMPUTING AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS

The Faculty of Computing and Telecommunications of Poznan University of Technology, established in 2020 as a result of the merger of the Faculties of Computing and Electronics and Telecommunications, represents the discipline of technical computing and telecommunications. The Faculty conducts research at a high level, which is confirmed by scientific category A awarded to the faculties in 2017 by the Committee for the Evaluation of Scientific Units. The Faculty has the right to confer doctoral and postdoctoral degrees in the discipline of technical computing and telecommunications.

Degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Computing and Telecommunications include Bioinformatics, Electronics and Telecommunications, Computing, Artificial Intelligence (programme in English) and Teleinformatics. The Faculty offers full-time and part-time studies. The high quality of teaching is confirmed by the fact that in 2019 the Polish Accreditation Committee awarded the Faculty of Computing the highest grade with distinction in all assessment criteria in the field of Computing. Studying at the Faculty of Computing and Telecommunications provides an opportunity to gain specialist knowledge that guarantees finding a very attractive job. The Faculty provides a professional, high-quality level of teaching, highly qualified research and teaching staff, an excellent laboratory base, student exchange opportunities with renowned European universities and traineeships at leading partner companies and a study-friendly atmosphere. THE FACULTY OF CIVIL AND TRANSPORT ENGINEERING

The Faculty of Civil and Transport Engineering was established on 1 January 2020 as a result of merging parts of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the Faculty of Transport Engineering. The creation of a new faculty resulted from the introduction of the Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on Higher Education and Science, which forced organizational changes at Poznan University of Technology consisting in creating faculties within one discipline. The units from which the Faculty was created date back to 1945 when the Engineering School began operating. In 1953, the Faculty of Construction Engineering and Faculty of Agricultural Mechanization were established. In the subsequent stages of Poznan University of Technology development, both of the above-mentioned faculties have changed their name many times due to changes of their competences. In 1956, the Faculty of Construction Engineering changed its name into the Faculty of Civil Engineering, in 1993 into the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Architecture and Environmental Engineering and in 2007 into the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

In 1967, the Faculty of Agricultural Mechanization changed its name into the Faculty of Machines and Vehicles, in 2003 into the Faculty of Machines and Transport, and in 2018 into the Faculty of Transport Engineering. Currently, there are six institutes at the Faculty of Civil and Transport Engineering: the Institute of Structural Analysis, the Institute of Building Engineering, the Institute of Civil Engineering, the Institute of Machines and Motor Vehicles, the Institute of Combustion Engines and Powertrains and the Institute of Transport. The Faculty of Civil and Transport Engineering is the most numerous discipline at Poznan University of Technology.

THE FACULTY OF MATERIALS ENGINEERING AND TECHNICAL PHYSICS

The Faculty of Materials Engineering and Technical Physics was created by the Resolution of the Academic Senate of Poznan University of Technology of 10 July 2019. It started functioning in January 2020. The newly created Faculty consists of the following institutes: the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering, the Institute of Physics and the Institute of Materials Research and Quantum Engineering. The institutes conduct research work in the following areas:

the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering: functional nanomaterials, metal science and surface engineering,

the Institute of Physics: nanotechnology, molecular bioelectronics, surface semiconductor and metallic structures, computer simulations and nanomechanics,

the Institute of Materials Research and Quantum Engineering: micro- and nanostructures of organic compounds, functional materials in optoelectronics, atomic and molecular spectroscopy.

THE FACULTY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1919 - the first, original faculty in the Higher School of Mechanical Engineering. In accordance with market expectations and in connection with structure modifications, it has changed its name several times. Between 1919 and 1952 it operated as the Faculty of Mechanics. It was then transformed successively into the Faculty of Machine Construction (1952-1967), the Faculty of Mechanics and Technology (1967-1974), again into the Faculty of Machine Construction (1974-1998), and in 1998 into the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Management. Since 1 January 2020, its name has been in keeping with the scientific discipline - the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

The fields of study offered by the Faculty, which include Mechanical Engineering, Management and Production Engineering, Mechatronics and Biomedical Engineering, allow students to follow degree programmes covering the broadly understood mechanical engineering area - construction, technology, automation, diagnostics and computerization, management and production engineering. Students can learn about production systems or quality management. The latest fields of study reflect the needs of the labour market, e.g. Mechatronics students gain expertise which combines several areas of knowledge and skills and Biomedical Engineering students acquire knowledge in the area of construction and operation of medical devices and prosthetics. The Faculty has the right to confer doctoral and postdoctoral degrees of technical sciences in the discipline of mechanical engineering. There are currently four institutes operating at the Faculty.

THE FACULTY OF ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING AND ENERGY

The Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Energy started operating on 1 January 2020, using material resources and experience of staff from the Institute of Environmental Engineering, the Institute of Electric Power Engineering and the Chair of Thermal Technology. The education offer of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Energy is characterized by modern methods and a wide range of teaching topics. The Faculty guarantees excellent, comprehensive education in environmental engineering, construction installations, electric power engineering, energy, thermal and renewable energy and aerospace engineering at engineer's and master's levels. Study programmes are offered full-time and part-time. All available forms of education have one goal - to enable students to acquire knowledge and skills necessary to function in contemporary society. The scientific achievements of the research and teaching staff of the Faculty in the discipline of environmental engineering, mining and energy give the Faculty the right to confer doctoral and postdoctoral degrees.

THE FACULTY OF ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT

The Faculty of Engineering Management of Poznan University of Technology continues traditions and good practices of industrial organization and management initiated before the Second World War by such Polish engineers as Karol Adamiecki, Piotr Drzewiecki, Edwin Hauswald and Zygmunt Rytel. Currently, three institutes operate within the Faculty's structure: the Institute of Safety and Quality Engineering, the Institute of Logistics and the Institute of Management and Computing Systems. Each of them is responsible for one field of study - Safety Engineering, Logistics and Management Engineering respectively. In addition to teaching, the Faculty conducts research and actively cooperates with business.

For years, the Faculty of Engineering Management has been top-ranked by Rzeczpospolita daily and Perspektywy monthly in terms of functioning and teaching. The Faculty’s mission is to generate new knowledge by creatively combining engineering sciences with management sciences and teaching in the area of logistics, safety engineering and engineering management, also in a continuous mode. This is effected by scientific, research and development work carried out in cooperation with the labour market focusing on sustainable development. The Faculty’s vision is to build a brand of a valued team of experts, an important research and teaching unit of Poznan University of Technology, recognizable in Poland and abroad and a sought-after partner in research, development and teaching projects guaranteeing a high scientific level and quality of education.

In 2018, the Committee for the Evaluation of Scientific Units awarded the Faculty category A, which proves a high level of scientific achievements, including publications, scientific potential, material outcomes of scientific activities (financial results, application of research results) and their impact on the functioning of society and the economy. The Faculty of Engineering Management provides degree programmes in the field of social sciences, in the discipline of management and quality science. In its teaching offer adapted to the national and international labour market, the Faculty offers full-time and part-time engineer's and master's studies in the fields of: Engineering Management, Logistics and Safety Engineering. It also offers full-time programmes conducted in English: Engineering Management first-cycle, Managing Enterprise of the Future and Logistics Systems second-cycle.

The education offer meets the requirements of ISO 9001: 2015, evidenced by the Quality Management System adopted by the Faculty in 2010. The Faculty of Engineering Management also offers numerous postgraduate programmes, courses and training sessions. An important aspect of tailoring the education offer to market needs are systematically organized meetings with the Business Council, during which representatives of enterprises provide valuable comments on the expectations and level of preparation of the Faculty's graduates. Students at the Faculty of Engineering Management are actively involved in science clubs, student organizations and the work of Poznan University of Technology Students' Union.

These activities allow students to practise teamwork and acquire organizational skills. As part of international cooperation, the Faculty of Engineering Management participates in the ERASMUS+ programme, exchange projects with China and Peru and international exchange of IAESTE technical university students. The Faculty is also an active member of the European Students of Industrial Engineering and Management (ESTIEM) network.

THE FACULTY OF CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY

The Faculty of Chemical Technology is a dynamically developing unit with a long-established teaching tradition, whose mission is to prepare highly-qualified engineering and technological staff for the needs of the broadly understood industry. The Faculty’s close cooperation with the economic sector enables students to gain knowledge in the area of practical solutions. Traineeships offered to students by the Faculty open to them attractive career prospects. A special advantage of studying at the Faculty of Chemical Technology is the combination of theoretical knowledge with laboratory and technological practice. Students learn the principles of conducting technological processes and implementing them in industry. In addition, numerous projects allow them to develop teamwork skills and knowledge of English for specific purposes enables effective communication with technologists from various industry branches.

Fields of study offered by the Faculty include:

Chemical Technology - a field of study that prepares technologists who want to combine chemical knowledge and skills with professional engineering knowledge allowing them to have an interdisciplinary view of industrial processes. The programme is also available in English (Chemical Technology).

Chemical and Process Engineering - a field of study that allows to acquire skills in the scope of planning, designing and implementing modern technological processes.

Environmental Protection Technologies - a field of study that prepares specialists for the control of industrial processes and implementation of modern and pro-ecological technical and technological achievements in the context of environmental protection.

Pharmaceutical Engineering - a field of study that allows to gain wide engineering competences in the range of pharmaceutical sciences and design of technological processes.

Circular System Technologies - a field of study that enables the acquisition of the latest knowledge in the area of managing natural and renewable resources, planning new pro-ecological technological solutions, including recycling technologies, and designing innovative utility materials with the possibility of reusing them.

While studying, students can participate in programmes that enable them to do internships in Poland and abroad and to learn at partner universities as part of the Erasmus + programme and the IAESTE association.
