Olaf Jagiełłowicz, a second-cycle student of Management Engineering and the president of the PUT Rocketlab student research group, has been included in the prestigious Forbes “30 Under 30” list.
The “30 Under 30” list is one of the flagship projects of the Polish edition of Forbes magazine. Every year, the magazine highlights the most talented young leaders in Polish business—startup founders, innovators, managers, and investors.
Forbes recognised not only Olaf’s scientific achievements but also his ability to secure funding for development. In just the past two years, members of the student group have raised nearly PLN 1.3 million in support, including over PLN 380,000 from sponsors and almost PLN 1 million from ministerial programs. Financial assistance has also been provided by the City of Poznan, which co-funded, among other things, the team’s participation in competitions in California.
How did Olaf decide to study at Poznan University of Technology?
“I chose to study at Poznan University of Technology because of the programmes offered at the time. My first choice was Transport with a specialisation in Transport Logistics, but due to my lifelong interest in aviation and space engineering, I later decided to begin a second degree in Aviation and Astronautics.”
Why PUT Rocketlab?
“When I started my second degree, I began looking for additional activities at the university. When I saw that PUT Rocketlab had opened recruitment, as a student fascinated by space technologies, I almost immediately sent in my application, based on which I was invited for an interview. After that interview I learned that I had been accepted into the team.”
Marketing section – choice or necessity?
“In my view, having a marketing section in this type of organization is essential. Without it, we wouldn’t be able to inform our audience and followers about our activities effectively, notify students interested in learning about recruitment openings, participate in dozens of events every year (or co-organize some of them), nor could we carry out large-scale marketing collaborations with our wonderful sponsors. Our marketing section does all of this (and many other things I surely haven’t mentioned here), and I am very proud of them. Despite frequent challenges, they always promote PUT Rocketlab and Poznan University of Technology at the highest level.”
Will the experience gained at Poznań University of Technology and in PUT Rocketlab help you “reach for the stars”?
“The experience I’ve gained during the last few years at PUT Rocketlab is broad—not only in technical terms, but also administrative and organisational. I highly recommend joining PUT Rocketlab to anyone who wants to make good use of their free time at university and gain unique and extremely valuable knowledge. Working on such projects with so many amazing people allows you to build an excellent set of competencies that will certainly help you ‘reach for the stars’ in the future.”
Warmest congratulations!!!
