As part of the Space Robot Testing Center (OTRK) project, a test hall with a total area of approximately 700 m2 was built as a testing ground for testing mobile robots for space exploration applications. The training ground dome has a specialized 360° projection installation of the planetary horizon and the celestial sphere. The training ground is also equipped with two mobile robots and two unmanned multi-rotor flying vehicles. The project also included the construction of a climatic laboratory equipped with a low-temperature thermal chamber for tests in cryogenic temperatures, a pressure chamber for tests in conditions of overpressure and high vacuum and a climatic chamber for tests in simulated conditions of variable temperatures and humidity, a microgravity laboratory equipped with a frictionless microgravity simulation platform with a 12-camera optical system tracking objects on a frictionless surface and Mission Control Center for training ground management and control of space mission simulations.
The constructed and purchased infrastructure will allow for the implementation of R&D works in research areas, i.e.:
- construction of planetary exploration vehicles, precise control algorithms with high precision and autonomy,
- algorithms for controlling on-board observation equipment (implementation of exploration programs) and managing (including safety) the configuration of mobile robots (applications as planetary exploration vehicles).
