Studies free of charge/Scholarships

Tuition fees for foreign students in full-time studies conducted in Polish and English are not charged for:

  1. Foreigners – citizens of EU Member States, the Swiss Confederation, or members of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) – parties to the agreement on the European Economic Area and their family members residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  2. Foreigners – citizens of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, as referred to in Article 10(1)(b) or (d) of the Agreement on the Withdrawal of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland from the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community (OJ L 29, 31.01.2020, p. 7, as amended), and their family members residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  3. Foreigners who have been granted a permanent residence permit or long-term resident status of the European Union.
  4. Foreigners who have been granted a temporary residence permit in connection with the circumstances referred to in Article 159(1) or Article 186(1)(3) or (4) of the Act of 12 December 2013 on Foreigners (Journal of Laws of 2017, items 2206 and 2282, and of 2018, items 107, 138, and 771).
  5. Foreigners who have been granted refugee status in the Republic of Poland or benefit from temporary protection* or subsidiary protection in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  6. Foreigners – holders of a certificate attesting proficiency in Polish as a foreign language, referred to in Article 11a(2) of the Act of 7 October 1999 on the Polish language (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 931), at least at the C1 language proficiency level.
  7. Holders of the Polish Card or persons who have been issued a decision confirming Polish origin.
  8. Foreigners who are spouses, ascendants, or descendants of Polish citizens residing in the territory of the Republic of Poland.
  9. Foreigners who have been granted a temporary residence permit in connection with the circumstances referred to in Article 151(1) or Article 151b(1) of the Act of 12 December 2013 on Foreigners or who are staying in the territory of the Republic of Poland in connection with short-term mobility of a researcher under the conditions specified in Article 156b(1) of this Act or holding a national visa for conducting scientific research or development work.

*Note: UKR status allows fee waivers for full-time studies only in Polish.

Foreign nationals can study in Poland under programs offered by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), with exemption from tuition fees based on a decision issued by the NAWA Director. Information about scholarship payments: The scholarship is paid by the university in Polish zloty (PLN) by the 10th day of each month to a Polish bank account. If a student does not have a Polish bank account, they should open one after arriving in Poland and enter the account number into the USOS system. Underage scholarship recipients who do not have a Polish bank account are asked to contact: study@put.poznan.pl. The scholarship is granted only to individuals listed by NAWA in the official List of Scholarship Recipients, after the student meets all the requirements specified by NAWA in the Agreement and Scholarship Regulations.

Studying for foreign students under NAWA programmes.

Foreign students may study in Poland under the programmes of the National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) with a waiver of tuition fees based on the decision of the NAWA Director. The applicant must present the NAWA decision and apply for the tuition fee waiver.

Scholarship payment information.

The scholarship will be paid by the University in PLN to a Polish bank account by the 10th of each month. If the student does not have a Polish bank account, they should open one upon arrival in Poland and provide the account number to USOS.

Minor scholars who do not have a Polish bank account should contact us at study@put.poznan.pl.

The scholarship will be paid only to those persons listed by NAWA on the official scholarship list, after the student has fulfilled all the requirements specified by NAWA in the Agreement and the Scholarship Regulations.

The first payment can be made by the end of December, with a correction for the period from October.
