Software Engineering, a term coined in 1968, addresses common challenges in software development, such as project delays, cost overruns, and software defects. The M.Sc. in Software Engineering at Poznan University of Technology focuses on applying engineering methods to mitigate these problems. The program aims to equip graduates with the skills to perform three key roles in IT projects:
Project Manager: Project management methodologies, risk management, estimation of software development size and effort
Analyst: Business process modeling, requirements elicitation, and preparation of acceptance tests
Architect/Senior Developer: Object-oriented design, software architecture, real-time systems, and software testing
A key feature of the program is the Software Development Studio (SDS), where students collaborate on real software projects for actual customers. Students work in teams, with M.Sc. students taking on leadership roles (project managers, analysts, architects) and Bachelor’s students acting as designers and developers.
Requirements:
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics, or related fields.
