PHD STUDENTS FROM THE PUT WITH THE MAIN PRIZE OF THE XXVII ICT FORUM

The best work in the Young Masters Competition was presented by Kacper Podbucki and Jakub Suder. The award in the Substantially Best Work was awarded by the Program Council of the Forum and the Mazovian Division of the Polish Information Technology Society for the project "CCTV based system for detection of anti-virus masks, based on teaching deep neural networks".

NATIONAL CENTER FOR ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND CYBERSECURITY

The new Center will be a platform for cooperation between research teams from Polish universities, institutes, and other leading institutions operating in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. The establishment of the Center is not only about setting up the infrastructure, but also an opportunity to increase the competitiveness of Polish science in the international arena. The interdisciplinary nature of artificial intelligence applications is visible in many areas, including medicine, security, engineering, economic analysis, industry, and services.

According to OPI * data, the Poznan University of Technology has the highest percentage of students (82.9%) and doctoral students (90.9%) vaccinated against Covid-19 among all Polish universities of technology. A relatively high vaccination rate, as much a 90.3% is also shown in the group of academic teachers (right behind the Gdansk University of Technology with the level of 90.6%).

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Christmas and New Year season is already over. I do hope that all of us spent this special time of the year in health, peace, and a good atmosphere. We are slowly returning to our duties, hoping that we will no longer have to isolate ourselves.

The temporary switch to the remote form of didactic classes expires, and we will return to the previous rules introduced by Ordinance No. 36 of September 1, 2021, and Ordinance No. 41 of September 30, 2021.

NAWA scholarships for young scientists of the PUT

Among 176 recipients of the Bekker scholarships, selected from 507 candidates, there are two scientists from the Faculty of Chemical Technology of the Poznan University of Technology.

Wojciech Smułek, PhD will spend a seven-month internship in Denmark at Copenhagen University. In the team of prof. Anette Müllertz, he will conduct research on the use of plant surfactants in the creation of nanoemulsions allowing for effective delivery of antibiotics to sites of bacterial infection.

THE PUT SEVENTH AMONG POLISH UNIVERSITIES IN THE EECA RANKING

The ranking includes 450 best universities from Central - Eastern Europe and Central Asia, including 27 universities from Poland. The ranking created by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) is constructed using 10 indicators, including faculty expertise, international student ratios, and academic and employer reputation. In the summary table, the Poznan University of Technology was placed on 85th position, gaining the highest score for the indicator "Web Impact". The university was ranked 25th in the overall ranking and 7th among Polish universities.
